“I was sleeping and my dad woke me up and told me I received a perfect ACT score. I was really excited and relieved. I felt like all of the hard work had paid off,” said Danny Minogue, CLS junior.
Danny spent the summer studying for the ACT. He worked with an ACT tutor who helped him particularly with the reading section and he learned about time management for this portion of the test. Prior to receiving a perfect score, Danny scored a 35 on two previous tests.
“I wasn’t as confident in the science section. I felt like I missed one or two questions which is all it takes to fall short of a 36.”
This semester, he is enrolled in four Advanced Placement classes, but still finds time to participate in extracurricular activities at Crystal Lake South.
“Math team and Science Olympiad are definitely a big part of my high school experience. Tennis is a big stress reliever and it’s a lot of fun.”
Danny’s first college choice is MIT and he will also be looking at the University of Chicago, Cornell University, University of Michigan and a few other Ivy League schools.
“Ideally, I want to get a doctorate in Physics and work at CERN or Fermilab. My ultimate goal is to make a lasting impact in my field of study.”
