D155 Receives Pride of Crystal Lake Award
The Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce recognized Community High School District 155 with the Pride of Crystal Lake Award for promoting business entrepreneurship through its INCubator Edu program. The Chamber of Commerce presented the award to District 155 during its first Pitch Night on May 22, 2017 at Prairie Ridge High School.

“We are truly honored to be recognized by the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce. We are thankful for their partnership and shared vision to continue to strengthen business entrepreneurship in our community,” said Dr. Johnnie Thomas, superintendent. “This class is an opportunity for D155 students to explore business as a career option while connecting with the local business community. This class also allows for us to continue to prepare students to be workforce ready.”

Students had the opportunity to create and fully develop their own product or service throughout the year. The student entrepreneurs presented their original service or product to a group of judges in a shark tank style event.

Mary Margaret Maule, Chamber of Commerce President, has been actively involved in the INCubator Edu program. She served as both a coach throughout the school year and judge at Pitch Night.

“The multiplier effect of this innovative business program brings these community talents and resources together which will be felt for years to come,” said Mary Margaret Maule, Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce president.

The INCubator EDU program is a capstone business class for D155 seniors.
