Cary-Grove Sophomore Scores Perfect on ACT
Ved Patel, a sophomore at Cary-Grove High School, earned a perfect ACT score the first time he took the test. He knew the score would be released on February 21, and was extremely nervous the night before. Ved felt confident while he was taking the test and thought he did well.

Only around one-tenth of one percent of all test takers earn the top score. In the U.S. high school graduating class of 2017, only 2,760 out of more than 2 million graduates who took the ACT earned a composite score of 36.

Ved is enrolled in four Advanced Placement classes this semester, Accelerated Spanish 2 and band and involved in several extra curricular activities.

“This year, I am going to state in math team and WYSE. I participated in Scholastic Bowl and marching band.”

In 2016, Ved won the McHenry County Spelling Bee, earning a spot to compete at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C.

As a sophomore, Ved says he’s leaning towards a career in medicine, but says he still has time to figure it out.
