“Jay is an exceptional leader who values and fosters relationships with colleagues and always focuses on a student-centered approach. He offers a unique perspective to this role having served as an administrator and most recently as a teacher and coach this past school year,” said Steve Olson, superintendent.
Jay began his educational career 28 years ago in District 155. He has held various positions at the district’s four high schools. He returned to the classroom this past year to teach math at Prairie Ridge High School and served as a coach for baseball and basketball. Prior to that, Jay was an administrator for 17 years serving as principal at Cary-Grove, vice principal at Crystal Lake Central and dean at Crystal Lake South.
“Our greatest resource is our truly phenomenal staff. Every day they make positive changes and improve the quality of education and high school experiences for our students. I’m excited about providing highly effective services for D155 personnel while aspiring to recruit, train and retain a world class staff,” said Jay Sargeant, assistant superintendent of human resources.
Jay Sargeant will replace Tom Kim, who will serve as the assistant superintendent of human resources at Niles Township High Schools District 219, effective July 1, 2018.
