"Made in Your Own Backyard Day"
School Districts 47 and 155 are excited to partner with the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce on an inaugural event this year called “Made in Your Own Backyard.”

This open house event is a localized version of MFG Day, a national day of recognition to inspire a future generation of manufacturers. The event will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 5:15 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and aims to: 1) increase awareness of unique products manufactured locally; and 2) to educate parents and middle and high school students about the diverse manufacturing field and career opportunities in Crystal Lake and McHenry County. Together, parents and students will learn about the relevant coursework offered by our high schools and gain information about the career paths and tracks involved in being employed by one of these successful local companies.

D47 and D155 students and parents will board a bus to tour and learn about various Crystal Lake manufacturing companies, including General Kinematics, Heartland Cabinetry, Precision Water Jet  and Mathews Company.

On October 4, buses will depart from all D155 high schools at 5:30 p.m., make two 45-minute stops at participating companies, and return to the school by 8:00 p.m. Families will be asked to arrive at the school by 5:15 p.m. for a brief overview by D155 educators before boarding the bus. Please note: With limited space, we ask that only one parent attend with the student. A parent or guardian must accompany middle school students. D47 middle school students should register for the field trip based at their designated high school. Registration for this event is closed.
