District 155 invites all current parents and those who will have a freshman in the Class of 2020 to Parent University on Saturday, February 20 at Crystal Lake Central High School.
Parent University is District 155's premier event for current and future parents. The event brings together expert presenters from the community and district to provide practical information to help parents successfully guide their children through the high school experience.
This year's keynote speaker is Matt Batt of The Parent Feed. He will be presenting information on Safety, Cyberbullying, and Long-Term Impact in the "Digital Generation." Batt founded The Parent Feed in 2014 to help parents stay informed of their children's online activity and has spoken to groups of parents in several states over the past year.
Most recently, Matt and his team launched a complimentary program for students called Project B3: Be Safe. Be Smart. Be Kind. The program focuses on encouraging positive online behavior and has been rolled out in McHenry County and will be presented to school districts state-wide this year.
Other session topics include: Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Building Resilient Teens, The College Process, Financial Aid & Scholarships, Overcoming the Rigors of High School with Good Study Skills, and Signs & Symptoms of Drugs and Alcohol Use. Parents are encouraged to attend different sessions to take advantage of all the great presentation options offered.
Please note the registration deadline is Friday, February 12. The event is free and open to all current District 155 parents and those who will have a freshman in the Class of 2020.
