PR Teacher Selected to Present at National AP® Conference
Gabriela Martin, a world language teacher at Prairie Ridge High School, was selected by the College Board to present at the national Advanced Placement Annual Conference this summer. Martin’s proposal included a detailed description of the topic, learning outcomes, educational strategies, and instructional planning.

“I felt that it would be a great learning experience for me IMG_6700.JPGand also a good way to get in contact with other teachers at a national level. I have had a wonderful learning experience as an AP® reader, and it has given me the desire to keep growing as an educator,” said Martin.

Ms. Martin’s session, “Secrets and Strategies for Success on the Free Response Portion of the Test,” focuses on helping students succeed on the interpersonal and presentational portions of the AP® test. These parts of the test include writing a persuasive essay using three different authentic sources, writing an email response, having a simulated conversation, and presenting a cultural comparison. “We are proud to have Gabriela Martin representing Prairie Ridge High School and District 155 on a national level,” said Dr. Steve Koch, Prairie Ridge principal.

The AP Annual Conference will be held in Washington D.C. on July 28 and July 29, 2017.
