We’d like to make you aware of a free summer meals program for youth in Crystal Lake.
Sponsored by the Northern Illinois Food Bank with the support of volunteers and the Crystal Lake Park District, the summer food program provides free boxed lunches and milk to any child in Crystal Lake who is 18 years of age and younger. Lunches will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Ladd Park, 500 Coventry Lane in Crystal Lake. Fun activities will be provided and no registration is required.
The lunch program will be offered on weekdays beginning Tuesday, June 6th and running through Thursday, August 18th. In case of rain, lunches will be served at Vineyard Church, 7105 Virginia Road in Crystal Lake (next to the CVS).
Last summer, the free lunch program served 1,225 meals to approximately 250 children in Crystal Lake, averaging 22 meals per day.
Northern Illinois Food Bank’s Summer Meal Program is offered in partnership with the USDA’s Summer Food Service Program and is administered by the Illinois State Board of Education.
