Five D155 Students Earn Spot with IL High School Theatre Festival
Five District 155 students were selected to perform and participate in the 43rd Annual Illinois High School Theatre Festival. The 2018 All-State production is the Broadway hit BIG FISH which features 109 high school students from 57 schools.

When I found out I was selected be in the cast my heart leaped! At the first rehearsal, we read and sang through the show and the entire cast was in awe over the talent. This experience has already humbled and taught me so much, and I am so thankful,” said Peyton Shaffer, Crystal Lake South High School.

The following District 155 students were selected:

Rachel Cantin – Prairie Ridge - Costume

Alexandra Kearney – Crystal Lake South - Construction crew

Zoe Purcell – Crystal Lake South - Lighting

Peyton Shaffer – Crystal Lake South- Ensemble

Jodie Werner – Cary-Grove - Sound

More than 350 talented students auditioned for the production of BIG FISH. The production includes a cast, ensemble, technical crew, and orchestra.

I am a part of costume crew. I have been involved in costumes at my high school since my freshman year. I really love designing costumes and creating them,” said Cantin. “During rehearsal weekends, we have gone to Broadway Costumes to pull clothes for the actors! It's such a cool experience to design and pull clothes for characters and it helps that we have an amazing stock to go through.”

Students rehearse for several weekends during the Fall of 2017, with final rehearsals occurring the last few days before the actual performances. This year, performances run January 12-13, 2018 at Illinois State University. This is a closed event for participants of the Illinois HIgh School Theatre Festival. No public tickets are sold for these performances.
